Aurora Borealis Award Nominations are NOW OPEN and Honoring Excellence in Occupational Therapy in Alaska. Deadline for submissions is February 28, 2026. The award is presented by the Alaska Occupational Therapy Association (AKOTA) Board of Directors and Executive Committee. Inspired by the brilliance of the northern lights, the Aurora Borealis Award honors individuals whose work has profoundly and positively shaped occupational therapy practice in Alaska. This prestigious recognition celebrates leadership, innovation, service, and lasting impact that improve access to care, strengthen communities, and advance the OT profession across our state.

Please submit your nomination using the following prompts. Concise but thoughtful responses are encouraged.

Impact on Occupational Therapy in Alaska: Describe how this individual has significantly advanced occupational therapy practice, education, policy, or access to care in Alaska.

Leadership and Innovation: Share examples of leadership, creativity, or problem-solving demonstrated by the nominee that led to meaningful change.

Service to Communities and the Profession: Explain how the nominee’s work has benefited Alaskans, particularly rural, underserved, or diverse communities.

Lasting Influence: Describe how the nominee’s contributions have created sustainable or long-term benefits for the OT profession in Alaska.
