AKOTA strongly advises all practitioners to review the most current state of Alaska Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Board Statutes and Regulations before taking continuing education courses for professional competency requirements.

From the Alaska PT/OT Statutes and Regulations:

 12 AAC 54.715. APPROVED OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY COURSES AND ACTIVITIES

To be accepted by the board, a continuing education course or activity must contribute directly to the professional competency of an occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant and must be directly related to the skills and knowledge required to implement the principles and methods of occupational therapy.”

  • The program must contribute directly to an OT practitioner’s professional competency
  • The program must relate directly to clinical practice, management, or education of OT practitioners
  • The program is conducted by individuals who have demonstrated expertise in the subject matter of the program
